EQUIPMENT AND MIXING PHILOSOPHY
My Studio is software-compatible with all common worldwide recorded projects.
I use the latest software-versions of Pro Tools and Cubase.
During mixing I often prefer to use for instance the Teletronics LA-2A, Universal Audio 1176 LN,
Pultec EQP - 1A, the EMT 250 Reverberator etc.. But why should I count completely the equipment I use ? It´s quite natural to use only the best professional equipment.
Does that tell you something about my mixing skills ? Not very much.
I think it´s not the equipment that makes the sound, it´s the one behind the faders.
The legendary audio engineer and „father of modern recording“ Bill Putnam said about this:
„Don´t listen to the equipment, listen through the equipment“. That speaks for itself.
So I like to tell you more about my mixing philosophy.
My mixing „philosophy“ is an airy, very clear, impressive, entertaining, dynamic and „true“ sound that transports the feelings and message of the artists´ music to the listeners.
My goal is to make the ideas and imaginations of the artist, musician, producer come true
contributing my own creativity and experiences.
To achieve the best and impressive mixing results it´s neccesary to mix in three dimensions.
In todays´ music I often hear two-dimensional mixes. Means that all frequencies and
the stereo field from left to right are there but what´s going on with the depth in the mucial
performance ? To me that´s the third dimension that can often give a mix an impressive impact.
Please listen to the samples and you know what I mean.
